Guard Retention for Defending the Knee Slide
Dan Hale starts from the De La Riva position with one hand holding his opponents ankle and the other one doing a cross collar grip. Once his opponent starts to put his foot between his legs with the intention to go for a knee slide, Dan uses his inside leg to throw his opponent over his shoulder. With some fancy leg work, he gets his leg free and goes back into his DLR position. While his opponent comes back from basing on his hand, this is actually a great time to continue using his opponent into a sweep or the bolo position.
