<video:description>
Closed Guard using 2 on 1 Grip: X-Guard to Leg Drag Sweep - Gi
Master the Closed Guard to Leg Drag transition with this high-level BJJ technique! This 10 second Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu video demonstrates a brilliant attacking sequence from coach Jason Hall, focusing on controlling the opponent's posture and seamlessly transitioning between multiple advanced guards. It helps develop precise grip control and smooth hip movement, making it ideal for intermediate to advanced practitioners. This setup is a high-percentage sweep that leads directly into a dominating guard pass, ensuring you score two points for the sweep and three points for the pass in competition.
The full chain is an attacking BJJ transition drill designed to negate strong posture by manipulating the opponent's arms and isolating a leg.
How and When to Practice
Struggling with opponents pressuring from the standing guard or closed guard? This drill helps you counter strong posture. Practice this movement to solve the specific problem of opponents refusing to engage in your closed guard. The key is controlling the sleeve grip and off balancing your partner with dynamic leg movement (X-Guard). Use this technique 2-3 times per week to build the muscle memory required for a fast, surprise attack. This technique works effectively for all body types because it relies heavily on leverage and grip control rather than sheer strength. It is ideal against bigger and heavier opponents, specially when you get under them which gets them off balanced.
Steps: The Closed Guard to Leg Drag Sequence
1. Establish the 2-on-1 Sleeve and Elbow Control
Starting in Closed Guard, secure the arm-isolating 2-on-1 grip:

Use your cross-sleeve grip (e.g., left hand on the opponent's left sleeve).
The same-side hand (right hand) grips behind the opponent's left elbow.
This combination breaks the opponent's posture and isolates their arm.

2. Transition to Key Master (Advanced X-Guard Entry)

Open the Closed Guard and place your 2-on-1 grip side foot (right foot), on the hip to ma</video:description>

      <video:title>Closed Guard using 2 on 1 Grip: Arm Bar - Gi</video:title>
<video:description>Dominate your opponents with this devastating 2-on-1 Armbar from Closed Guard! This short Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu video demonstrates a highly efficient submission taught by coach Jason Hall. This technique is centered on superior upper body control and leverage to execute a fast, high-percentage armbar submission. It helps develop precise breaking of posture, making it an essential submission for intermediate practitioners. This setup is a potent attack that can often be finished without the need for a major hip angle, increasing your submission rate. This attack is a core BJJ submission drill designed to break your opponent's strong posture by locking down one arm and creating powerful leg frames. How and When to PracticeAre you looking to improve your submission timing from the guard? This drill helps you counter the common defense of your opponent trying to posture up. Practice this movement to master the submission on an opponent whose arm is isolated. The key is to establish a deep cross-sleeve grip and control the shoulder with your leg. Use this technique 3–4 times per week to build the confidence required to attack the arm whenever the opportunity arises. This submission is effective for all body types, as the isolation and leg pressure provide all the necessary leverage, making it ideal for smaller players against larger opponents.Steps: The 2-on-1 Armbar Sequence1. Establish the Dominant 2-on-1 ControlStart in Closed Guard and secure the arm-isolating grip. Get a strong cross-sleeve grip (e.g., left hand on the opponent's right sleeve). Follow immediately with your other hand (right hand) to grip behind the opponent's left elbow. This 2-on-1 control is key for posture destruction.2. Leg Isolation and FramingOnce the arm is trapped, open your Closed Guard safely.Place the foot opposite your 2-on-1 grip (left foot) high on the opponent's right bicep to establish a powerful frame and maintain distance. The same-side leg (right leg) will then swing opponents hips, maintaining distance.3. Finalizing the ArmbarYo</video:description>

      <video:title>2 on 1 Triangle</video:title>
<video:description>Jason Hall shows off a very affective technique from closed guard, its the arm bar using the 2 on 1. With a closed guard, you get your cross grip followed by your hand on your partners elbow. At this point, it is safe to open up your closed guard and move into the open guard. With your left leg, you will keep this on your opponents shoulder so that you can keep some distance between you. Your other leg will move into a lasso position, but you will keep pushing it forward so that your feet is across your partners neck. Now you can extend your hips, while hold his elbow, straighten his arm for the armbar.

The amazing part about this technique is that you don't have to get a crazy angle to finish the armbar, it can pretty much be done while being square with your opponent.</video:description>

There is so much going on here, but this is exactly the type of craziness that Steve specializes in. The man from Beamsville Ontario starts from bottom guard with a cross sleeve. He goes in to a deep De La Riva then uses the new Jon Thomas Vice guard to control his opponent. From there, Steve brings his knees to his chest, brings his opponent over his shoulder into the bolo position, which of course leads to a back take. Yes that is a lot of technique, so go practice and drill!</video:description>

<video:description>Dan Hale starts from the De La Riva position with one hand holding his opponents ankle and the other one doing a cross collar grip. Once his opponent starts to put his foot between his legs with the intention to go for a knee slide, Dan uses his inside leg to throw his opponent over his shoulder. With some fancy leg work, he gets his leg free and goes back into his DLR position. While his opponent comes back from basing on his hand, this is actually a great time to continue using his opponent into a sweep or the bolo position.</video:description>

<video:title>De La Riva Sweep Using The Honey Hole</video:title>
<video:description>First, I'll admit, I haven't played enough with the Honey Hole technique, but I know someone that is really good at it and its been frustrating getting caught in it. I highly suggest trying it out.

In this Jiu Jitsu we have Dan Hale from Cobrinha BJJ showing off the Honey Hole from De La Riva. This position in can be used as a sweep or you can go for a submission using leg locks! While being in the DLR position and defending the knee slide, Dan holds on to his opponents collar and brings him over his hip. From there, he traps his opponents opposite leg with the honey hole. Instead of going for a leg lock, this time he uses it as a sweep, comes up on top and into side control with his underhook.

This popular position has been inspired by John Danaher who has taught his students Gordon Ryan, Nicky Ryan & Garry Tonon this amazing move.</video:description>
